Belfast Sinks

There are many styles of bathroom basin which you can choose from. The typical sink is round in shape and form. However, the Belfast sink is different to this in many ways. The traditional Belfast sink is deep and rectangular in shape and size. The classic white of the Belfast sink will match perfectly with any bathroom.

Traditional Belfast sinks are made from fireclay, this material is what lends itself to the chunky sink walls and design. This is in contrast to the French sinks which came later, featuring thinner sides due to the fine clay which was available to the French. The older more traditional and original Belfast sinks are the chunky ones, due to the type of clay which they used at the time.

Belfast sinks have a contemporary look which is heightened when they are built into the sides and fittings of your room, as seen in the image below:

Not only are Belfast sinks popular in the bathroom, but they also work fantastically in the kitchen. This is due to their size and amount of water which they can hold, perfect for your cooking and cleaning needs.

However, the style of the Belfast sink is brilliant in the bathroom, and can even stand freely if given enough support. The square shaping of the Belfast sink is neat, due to its corners which give off a clean and tidy finish – some may say this looks much better than the standard rounded sink and is what gives the Belfast sink its appeal.

You could even choose to source an old second hand Belfast sink, cleaning and updating it yourself for the complete traditional feel.
