Want a good night’s sleep? A recent study of 2,000 British homes shows that bedroom colour schemes affect the quality and quantity of sleep that we get every night.
Blue is the colour that allows you for the best night’s sleep – with people getting an average of 7 hours and 52 minutes sleep each night. This is because we relate it to calm waters and the blue sky, which are both soothing elements.
There are other colours that provide a positive effect. Yellow creates a warm and cosy atmosphere whilst also stimulating the nervous system and aiding relaxation. Green induces sleep through providing a restful, calming environment in the bedroom.
Purple, grey and brown were revealed as the worst colour schemes for a good night’s sleep. Purple, in particular, stimulates the mind a little too much meaning it’s hard to drift off into slumber.
But don’t fret if you’ve got a bold purple scheme in your bedroom because other studies show that those with purple bedrooms could just be having the most fun.
