Movies allow us to peer into other peoples’ lives and, even better, their homes. People go crazy for the interior design and decorating that appears in movies with features being included in magazines and appearing on social networks.
It’s all part of the fantasy of going to the cinema but more people are turning to entertainment forms to influence their home decoration.
We’ve already seen that people are taking inspiration from their favourite TV shows, so today we have decided to take a look at some beautiful movie interiors.
Something’s Gotta Give
Besides this film having two great actors, Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton it also has a great house. Particularly impressive is the light-washed living room of the Hamptons house that brings the cool sea blue of the outside in. The furniture layout compliments the room creating a real focal point and the whole room has a homely feel to it.
A Single Man
Set during the 1960s, this film shines with style. It’s no wonder with the people behind Emmy award winning show, Mad Men in charge of set design and legendary fashion designer, Tom Ford as the director. It brilliantly blends together the traditional with the futuristic that results in an artistic and visually stimulating interior.
Amélie
Not only were we swept away by Amélie’s quirky French je ne sais quoi but the sets, in particular her apartment, were as captivating as the main character’s personality. The bright red metallic wallpaper with Oriental patterning is in complete contrast with the quirky prints in traditional frames. However, it works to create a peculiar and offbeat look.
Breakfast in Tiffany’s
Audrey Hepburn’s glamorous look was influential to say the least but her one-room apartment oozes just as much style. It’s the furniture that makes Holly Golightly’s pad so lush: the wrought-iron bed, retro fridge and the particularly impressive bathtub couch.
The Great Gatsby
Currently wowing audiences is Baz Luhrmann’s Great Gatsby remake. It’s exquisite set design entwines 1920s glamour with the 21st Century. Particularly impressive is Gatsby’s bedroom, which is technically an enormous wardrobe to display his opulence to impress Daisy Buchanan – who wouldn’t want a room like this at their disposal?
