There is no greater fear to a home owner than a stain, whether it be red wine, ballpoint pen marks or a food stain.
But fear not, today we take a look at how you can get stuck in and battle tough marks and bothersome blemishes.
For any of the removal agents included you can pick them up at your local supermarket or hardware store.
Coffee and Tea
One of the most popular stains is the spillage of coffee and tea. To tackle this, rinse with cold water before spot cleaning with a solution of washing detergent (not soap). If the stain remains mix a solution of one part vinegar to two parts water and spot clean the area.
Pen Ink
To remove ballpoint pen marks or other ink, use methylated spirits. Dab the area with an absorbent cloth until the stain disappears.
Chewing Gum
Chewing gum is very tricky to remove. You need to turn it hard and brittle by freezing it with ice cubes. Then use a knife to break away the gum. Remember to be gentle so you don’t damage the fabric.
Shower Curtain Mildew
Shower curtain mildew can cause chaos in the bathroom but it is easily taken care of. Sponge or soak in diluted bleach then machine wash with detergent.
Red Wine
Red wine is another tough stain to contend with and rumours are that by chucking white wine over it straight away you’ll get rid of it. However, this doesn’t always work. The best solution is to dab the affected area with carbonated or soda water and then wash away with cold water.
Scorch Mark
Nothing can remove a scorch mark, they cause permanent damage. However, they can be disguised, if you carefully shave away the damaged fibres
